Eagle History

The Eagle brand of vehicles began with a model named Eagle by the American Motors Corporation (AMC). 

In 1987, Chrysler Corporation bought AMC to acquire its Jeep line, an all-wheel drive (AWD) with off-road capability. AMC also produced other models, including the AMC Eagle, the first-ever crossover in automotive history that was a four-wheel drive (4WD). 

Chrysler introduced the Eagle brand to compete with imported vehicles such as Volvos and Mercedes, taken from the AMC Eagle nameplate. In 1988, the company introduced the Eagle Premier (formerly the AMC Premier) with a V6 engine, advanced suspension, and a roomy interior. 

In 1993, the Eagle Vision revamped the Premier to include a 3.5 liter V6 engine and a polished, high-end interior. The vehicle was also more reliable than its predecessor. And then came the Eagle Summit, a sedan that was a rebadged Mitsubishi Mirage, and the Summit Wagon, a hatchback compact car. By this time, Chrysler had partnered with the Japanese automaker to produce its Eagle brand vehicles.

Mitsubishi also made the Eagle Talon, a sporty coupe, which was, in essence, a redesign of the Japanese brand’s Eclipse model. This Eagle model was the most successful for the Chrysler Eagle brand. It also outcompeted the similar Plymouth Laser that was sold under the Chrysler-Plymouth dealership. 

Maintaining Your Eagle

Eagle vehicles today are classic cars that require careful care and maintenance. After two decades, the LH Eagle Vision sedan and the Eagle Talon coupe still look beautiful. 

Our experts recommend changing your Eagle vehicle's engine oil and filter every 5,000 miles. You should also inspect your vehicle at every service interval to ensure everything is in order.
